The Irish professional has had a colorful career and has made many records in the field. But one thing that differentiates him from other players is his finesse in the game and his attention to detail in every swing. After winning three major championships, Harrington is now making sure that his admirers are aware of all his tricks while on the field.
And to fulfill the same purpose, the golf legend keeps coming up with all kinds of tips and tricks for his students. The former Ryder Cup captain recently gave his opinions about the new ranking system. According to Harrington, using the number of strokes gained is not the fairest way of deciding how much ranking points a player earns. In one of his tweets, he mentioned the criteria being used by the OWGR to decide on the number of points. He said, “SG ranking is what the stats guys use to rate players essentially for gambling…But from my “personal anecdotal experience” this can lead to a false narrative.”
He also mentioned that if PGA Tour players keep receiving advantages, it will be harmful to US-based players. As per his analysis, “the new system will force more international players earlier in their careers to the PGA Tour, squeezing out homegrown US players.”.
