Mamamia’s original podcast slate keeps on growing, with a new sport-based show – Here If You Need – launching today in partnership with Golf Australia.
Here If You Need marks Mamamia’s first audio step into sport and is co-hosted by four-time Olympian Cate Campbell and sports journalist Hayley Willis.
Each episode will give listeners a breakdown on the week that was, all-access interviews with some of the biggest names in women’s sport (think Lauren Jackson and Sam Kerr) and a cheat sheet to make sure they’re always prepped for pub trivia.
Tiffany Cherry, Head of Women and Girls Engagement at Golf Australia, says “Women and girls contribute so much to sport both in Australia and globally, and we’re long overdue championing them. Our partnership with Here If You Need is one way we are ensuring the stories of women and girls are shared to tell a more complete story of sport in Australia.”
Holly Wainwright, Head of Content at Mamamia, says “We think this is exactly the right moment for Mamamia to step into women’s sport in a significant way – it’s literally changing the world, and there’s never been more of an appetite from our audience to support and consume it.”
Co-host Cate Campbell says “I have been a long-time fan of Mamamia, what it stands for and how it runs. To be invited to be part of Australia’s only female media organisation is a dream come true.”
“As an avid sports fan I inhale as much sports content as I can. However, I noticed a distinct lack of female sports content. Men’s sports have podcasts, TV shows and newspaper columns for days, but women’s sport only receives a fraction of this coverage, so when Mamamia reached out to see if I would be interested in a female sports podcast I leapt at the opportunity.”
Co-host Hayley Willis says “I am absolutely thrilled to be co-hosting Mamamia’s first ever sports podcast. For over a decade I have been a part of an industry saturated by men’s sport, and witnessed incredible feats by female athletes go unnoticed and rarely reported.”
“Women’s sport needs more of a voice and what better way to achieve this than by launching a show on Australia’s only female media organisation? I cannot wait to interview some of Australia’s top female athletes, listen to their stories of success but also their challenges faced in their journey to become the best.”
